    Tōtara is a native conifer valued for its strong timber and cultural importance. The bark has been traditionally used in natural dyeing to produce reddish-brown colours. These dyes were applied to fibres to colour woven works and contribute to traditional Māori weaving.

     

    This A4 print highlights tōtara’s role in natural dyeing and its place in Māori fibre arts.
